A Wealthsimple referral link is a personal link (wealthsimple.com/invite/XXXXXX) that a Wealthsimple client shares with someone new. When a new client signs up through the link and makes a qualifying deposit, both sides get $25. The bonus is not instant, not unconditional, and not free to withdraw on day one — the three conditions below decide whether it pays out at all.
| Referrer (sharer) | Friend (new client) | |
|---|---|---|
| Gets | $25 | $25 |
| Condition | Holds $100+ in net deposits when the friend funds, account in good standing | New client, Canadian resident, $100+ external net deposit within 30 days of signing up |
| Paid to | Chequing account | Chequing account |
| When | Within 24 hours of the qualifying deposit | Within 24 hours of the qualifying deposit |
Amounts and terms can change at any time — recheck Wealthsimple's current referral terms before you rely on them.
The bonus is paid to a Chequing account, not to an investment account. If the friend (or referrer) has no Chequing account, they have 90 days to open one — after that window, the bonus expires. If you are the friend, open Chequing before or right after funding so the payout has somewhere to go.
The bonus comes with a 180-day hold: the bonus amount must stay in the account for 180 days, or Wealthsimple can claw it back. In practice, do not fund $100, collect $25, and withdraw everything the next week — that is exactly the pattern the hold exists to catch. Treat the $100 deposit and the $25 bonus as parked for six months.
Does the friend need to trade, or just deposit?
Just deposit. The qualifying condition is a $100+ external net deposit within 30 days; no trade is required.
Can two people refer each other?
No. Mutual referrals do not qualify.
What happens if the friend withdraws early?
The 180-day hold applies to the bonus: withdraw the bonus inside 180 days and Wealthsimple can claw it back.
How long until the bonus lands?
Within 24 hours of the qualifying deposit, paid to Chequing.
