What Happens When a Code Runs Out of Uses

A code's life ends quietly: it hits zero uses, gets marked expired, and stops being copyable. Nothing dramatic — but nothing refills it either.

At zero uses: marked expired, no longer copyable

On this wall, a code at zero uses is marked expired and stops being copyable. That is the wall's way of preventing wasted attempts: an expired card tells you, before you try, that there is nothing left to claim. If you copied the code before it expired and redeem it after the uses are gone, it will fail — the uses were claimed by others first.

Dead, expired, and revoked are three different states

Expired means the uses ran out. Dead is what users report when a code does not work — and a code reported dead three times is taken down automatically, even if its uses-left count had not reached zero. Revoked means the issuer withdrew the code on its side; the wall cannot distinguish a revoked code from a merely dead one, because it did not issue the code and cannot check with Muse. From your side, all three feel the same: the code does not work, and the move is the same too — try another one.

Why popular codes run out so fast

Uses are finite, and demand concentrates: a code on page 1 or picked as the hero card gets tried by many people in a short time, and the 48-hour redeem window means everyone trying is in a hurry. A code with a high uses-left count can still vanish quickly if it is visible. That is why the wall shows uses-left counts at all — and why a code that worked an hour ago may be gone now.

What the holder does next

A used-up code does not refill. If the holder receives a new code, that is a separate code, posted as a separate submission — it does not revive the old one. If you are the holder and your code ran out, the honest move is to post the new code (if you have one) with its own accurate uses-left count, and let the old one stay expired.
